Nicest campsite I've ever stayed in, we stayed in the shepherd's hut, it was so beautiful and cosy and they have literally thought of everything you could need. The little seating area outside was very private and comfy too. Finally the bathrooms....wow, better than most 5 star hotels! Highly recommend. My only tip would be that the one pub you can walk to, takes hardly any food orders, it was a Tuesday night and although the pub was less than 25% full they couldnt serve us food. So if your plan like ours was for a pub dinner and a few drinks book the pub well in advance of your stay.

It was lovely, provided with utensils for cooking and the bed were very comfortable. Was amazed by how lovely the toilets are with showers. I would 100% go back and would recommend to others.

Really lovely experience and a great family trip. The site is a nice size with just the four tents and one Shepherd's Hut. The tents are very comfy and nicely decorated with plenty of amenities (fridge, heater, storage, kettle, toaster), while also having plenty of space to move about and good standing room. Shower and bathrooms are nicely done and you get a dedicated room for your family for the whole stay. The supplied fire pits, logs and marshmallows were a treat!Nice range of walks in the area, including down to the river. Our hosts Fiona and Monica were lovely and made sure that we had everything we needed on arrival. Highly recommended.

Excellent stay

Vacation  |  Family

Excellent site with lovely well maintained tents, grounds, and bathrooms.

We headed north to Rolling Fields to meet friends who had heading south; and we’re bowled over when we arrived at the site, genuinely and in a good way.

The Chilterns have a quiet beauty of their own distinct from the rugged coasts, mountains, or isolated moors here in the UK but no less beautiful. What they lack in drama they more than make up for with accessibility, this setting offers an amazing place to just ‘be’ with friends, family or both.

Rolling Fields though takes that and turns the dial to 11, the tents are fantastic, well equipped with everything that you’d need to have a great time. Comfortable futon beds, a fridge, an electric ‘fire” outdoor seating, three full size has BBQs, picnic tables, climbing frames, trampoline, swing… And bathrooms that really are as good as those you’d find in many UK hotels. Hot water, flushing loos; that sounds daft, and I appreciate that I’m not expert in ‘Glamping’ Vs ‘Camping’ but I’ve done a fair bit of both and this site was the neatest and best appointed, hands down. Some of the bathrooms are shared between two tents, some are exclusive, but we experienced one of each and they were peerless.

What else? Well the night sky was beautiful which is obviously somewhat down to luck, but given the tents were named after stars probably not a one off, sitting outside with the crickets chirping, watching the stars on a warm night was bliss.

We camped with children aged 2, 6, 8, 10 and between the two families had a big bell tent and a standard bell tent. I can honestly say that I haven’t slept better in a tent, and that I would come back to Rolling Fields with out a second thought.

Fiona has done a fantastic job, really fantastic.

Nearby activities: Walking
Wildlife park
River Thames
Oxford
Pubs
Restaurants

Safety: Quiet, out of the way, well maintained.

Walkability: Once at the site it was entirely possible to spend the remainder of the stay without using the car.

There is a pub which is easily walkable access to the River Thames (again walkable) and lovely countryside for ambling through.

Peaceful getaway

Very peaceful location to get away from it all. My partner and I booked the shepherds hut for 3 days and had a blast. It was secluded and had amazing star watching opportunities. Fiona was an awesome host and very helpful with anything we needed, but also left us to our own devices which was a welcome change from other locations I’ve been to.
Thanks a bunch for the stay!

New to glamping & not disappointed

We recently took part in a Pilates retreat hosted at Rolling Fields Glamping for 3 days. We were new to Glamping but have camped many times, though I can’t see us roughing it again with normal camping after this.

The site is lovely, well maintained and in a beautiful location. The tents are spacious with beds and/or Futons. There is electricity, a fridge and all bedding, towels and crockery. The shower block impressed me most which could put some hotels to shame.

Being near the river also means there are good pubs and restaurants nearby.

We were helped by the glorious weather but we had a fantastic stay here. Thoroughly recommended, thank you Fiona.

Wonderful site

Tent was spacious and very comfortable to stay and sleep in. Had everything we needed. Bathroom was very clean and modern. Overall camp facilities were great. The children enjoyed the area with trampoline, slide, and swings. Lovely setting, perfect to watch beautiful sunsets. Have recommended to friends already.

Magical experience

My partner and I stayed at Rolling Fields campsite in the shepherd’s hut. Wow! What an experience! The shepherd’s hut is situated under the canopy of a small woodland. It is an absolutely beautiful little gem that has lots of quirky original features such as wood carvings, fabric Muriel ceiling and stable doors, but has modern accessories to make your stay comfortable, such as a kettle and fridge. You have incredible views out the front of the hills and the back door opens into the woodland and you can watch badgers and foxes roaming early in the morning! Truly beautiful. The campsite is beautifully laid out and each plot feels private due to the brilliant use of the long grass. Each plot has a mown area with deck chairs/ seating and its own fire pit. The toilet block is brilliant and just a short walk from the hut. Flip-flops are fine (we walked barefoot). The hut had its own bathroom which was amazing and it felt like a hotel bathroom with a toilet, large shower vanity unit with light up mirror and a heated towel rail. The bathroom was very clean! The views and location of this site are absolutely fantastic. Situated up a track, it is quiet, peaceful and has the most incredible sunsets and sunrises. It is a very short walk to the most amazing waterside pub that has delicious food and really accommodating staff. I would recommend you book for dinner even if you aren’t sure of your plans because once you see it, you’ll want to eat there. The walk along the river is fantastic and if you walk to Goring, there is another great pub and restaurant, The Copper Club, where you can sit and drink Pimms by the river all day long! The ladies that run the campsite have an incredible eye for detail and have literally thought of everything! The communal area of gas BBQ’s, fire pit and bean bags/ games tent is just so clever! They are just lovely and communicated via text throughout our stay. We look forward to returning with our family for another stay. Just brilliant!
